Many students and guardians are asking themselves this question, but the answer is not yet clear.

WAEC has confirmed that the results of the BECE 2022 will be released on Wednesday January 25th 2023, as per their official press release.

In this article, we are going to talk about when the 2022 BECE results will be released and some other tips.

Per WAEC rules, BECE results are released 90 days after the last paper. In this case, the 2022 BECE ended on 21st October 2022 so, WAEC is set to release the 2022 BECE results on January 25th, 2023. WAEC will release a statement a few days before the results are released or immediately after the results come out.

WAEC works from Monday to Friday which omits weekends so if they are to omit weekends from the 90 days as well as the Christmas holidays, so the release date of January 25th is good.

But given that the time for SHS 1 students to go to school has come out, it is very likely WAEC will stick to the 90-day convention.

So, therefore, what candidates and guardians have to do is wait patiently for a released statement from WAEC on when exactly they will want to release the results.

When the results are released several news outlets will announce it. Also, if you are a regular social media user, you will also get to see the release statement from WAEC.

You can also follow the Ministry of Education’s social media accounts so that you get notifications on any announcement they make. Hopefully, when the results are released, you will be notified.

What to do when the results are released

When the BECE 2022 results are released, its now time to find your index number, buy your WAEC Voucher which includes the SERIAL NUMBER and PIN from any sales outlet, most internet CAFÉ or any WAEC office nearby and check your results online.

How to check your BECE 2022 Results

To check your BECE results, you first need your e-voucher which can be bought at any authorized outlet. You can also buy your voucher with your MoMo via SMS by dialing *800*055#. Now that you have your voucher, let us get to check your results.

Visit the WAEC results checker online portal: eresults.waecgh.org

Print out your results.

What to do after checking your BECE results

Now is the time to prepare for your Senior High School journey. With your results, you now know your fate and what to expect, whether you will be placed or not.

In Ghana, placement can come to you regardless of your results due to a poor system, therefore, don’t give up if your result is not good. You may not get the choice you desire but hopefully, you will get a placement.

What is the pass mark for BECE?

Previously, when free SHS was not yet in session, the cut-off point for BECE was aggregate 25. But with the new implementation, there is no exact cut-off point.

Although the results released each year are graded from 1 to 9 per subject, getting to be enrolled in an SHS is done using the candidate’s raw score.

Conclusion

We hope this article has given you an insight into when to expect the release of the 2022 BECE and what must be done after the release.

‘No Guarantor’ Students Loan Bill Passed

Rev. John Ntim Fordjour – Deputy Minister for Education

THE LAW requiring a guarantor for tertiary students to access loans from the Students Loan Trust has been amended by Parliament as part of government’s policy to fulfill its constitutional mandate under Article 25 of the Constitution.

The Students Loan Trust Fund (Amendment) Bill, 2021, was read the third time, with the motion moved by the Deputy Minister for Education, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, on behalf of the minister responsible for education, and seconded by the Chairman of the Committee on Education, Kwabena Amankwa Asiamah.

The bill was laid in the House on December 16, 2021, by the Deputy Minister for Education, Gifty Twum-Ampofo, in accordance with Article 106(13) of the Constitution.

A number of amendments were made to the bill, but a proposed amendment to insert in the bill a discretion to the board to “request any scheme established under the National Pensions Act, 2008 (Act776) on any pension scheme operated and managed by any institution in the country made by a borrower to that scheme, pursuant to a court order” was rejected.

During the consideration stage, the NDC MP for Akatsi South, Bernard Ahiafor, raised issues with the sustenance of the fund if beneficiaries are made to access the loan without the state having anything to hold them to pay back.

The NPP MP for Asante Akim North, Andy Appiah-Kubi, explained that the “no guarantor” caveat of the new student loan regime would be checked using the national identification system and digitalisation processes of the government, such as GPS for repayment of the loan, arguing that the bill would benefit the underprivileged students.

The NPP MP for Trobu, Moses Anim, proposed that beneficiaries should be made to pay back the loan from their salaries, while in employment after school and national service.

Background

In 2017, the government pursued the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme to improve and expand access to secondary and tertiary education.

The successful implementation of this programme made it possible for many more students from poor socio-economic backgrounds to participate and complete their secondary education.

The government said the high-performance rate of Free SHS students who wrote the West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination in 2021, indicated that there would be an increase in the number of students who will be transitioning to tertiary institutions in 2022.

“As a result, continuing with a policy that requires a guarantor to access loans from the Students Loan Trust will serve as a hindrance to many qualified students accessing the loan to continue their education, as well as prevent the government from fulfilling its constitutional mandate under Article 25 of the Constitution.”

The government stated that if the Free SHS graduates are unable to transition to the next level of their education, the broad educational goals would not be fully realised.

The Ghana Tertiary Education Report projects tertiary enrolment to grow by forty per cent (40%) between 2019/2020 academic year and 2022/2023 academic year.

Consequently, removing barriers in the acquisition of loans by tertiary students from the Students Loan Trust Fund will facilitate the provision of equal opportunities to everyone who wants to have access to higher education.

Project work for Embroidery.

Background to the study

Embroidery is a craft of decorating material or fabric or other materials using a needle to apply thread or yarn. (Wikipedia 2020)

Embroidery may also incorporate other materials such as pearls, beads, quills and sequins.

Later, in 18th century England and its colonies, embroidery was a skill making a girls passage into womanhood as well as conveying rank and social standard. Embroidered fabrics are worn for beautification, decorating room, identification. Embroidery can be done on handkerchiefs, T-shirts, bedspread, socks, shoes, caps, underwear etc.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The student centre of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) was built 2021. Currently, it is one of the beautiful buildings on the campus. Every day, no matter the hour of the day, students passes by to take pictures of themselves and the building due to its beautiful bright colour for pleasure and also for their various project works.

Producing an embroidery work of the student centre of UEW will not only serve as a decorative piece but also the morning activities of the students of UEW around the students centre every morning.

Students use some of their lecture hours to take pictures of the students centre perhaps to show their colleagues in other schools the beautiful building. Pictures taken maybe lost when the phone got spoilt or lost so producing an embroidery showing the students centre will not only be a decorative piece but also a memorandum.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

This study seeks to;

To produce an embroidery work showing the students centre of UEW

To identify the morning routine of the students of UEW around the students centre

RESEARCH QUESTIONS

·         How will the artwork identify the morning routine of students of UEW around the students centre?

·         How will the artwork be produced?

·         Will the artwork serve the purpose?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CENTRE

The artwork will serve as a memorandum for students and lecturers when they are away from campus or the students centre.

CHAPTER FIVE

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

5.0. Overview

This chapter contains the entire summary, conclusion and recommendation of the study

5.1. Summary

The researcher was concerned with the use of the embroidery to demonstrate and show the student centre of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) and the daily activities of students around the centre.

The researcher combined different colours of yarns to create the scene.

5.2 Conclusion

Embroidery has formed part of our lives and keeps evolving with time with new ideas. At first, it was made only with the hand which could take longer periods of time but machine embroidery has become very popular because complex designs can be done with the machine in a smaller space of time.

5.3. Recommendation

The researcher recommends that students should practice hand embroidery often and try a new stitches.
